Privacy Policy
Polarity Spiral is a one-tap arcade game. You do not need an account to play, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number. This policy explains what data the game and the services it uses collect, why, and the choices you have.
What stays on your device
Your progress (best scores, coins, themes, daily missions and settings) is stored on your device. Uninstalling the game removes it.
What is collected, and why
| Data | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|
| How the game is used: runs started and finished, scores, themes tried and bought, missions completed, ads watched, the app version, device model, operating system, language and an approximate country | To understand how the game is played and make it better | Google Analytics for Firebase |
| Crash reports: the state of the app when it crashed and technical details of the error | To find and fix crashes | Firebase Crashlytics |
| A random player ID created by the game, the leaderboard name (made up by the game or chosen by you), your best scores and how long those runs lasted | To run the leaderboards. Your leaderboard name and scores are visible to other players | Firebase Authentication (anonymous sign-in), Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore |
| If you invite friends or accept an invite: your invite code, which player invited which (by their random player IDs), and an identifier of your device, which our server keeps only as a one-way hash | To give the reward for each friend once, and only for new players | Firebase Cloud Functions and Cloud Firestore |
| Device identifiers for advertising (the Android advertising ID; on iOS the IDFA, only if you allow tracking), IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads | To show ads, measure them and prevent ad fraud. Ads are personalized only where you have agreed to it | Google AdMob |
| Whether you bought No Ads | To remove ads and give you its benefits, on this and your other devices | Google Play or the Apple App Store |
| A check that the game is the real one, installed from the store, on a real device: the result of Google Play Integrity on Android and of Apple App Attest on iOS | To keep cheated scores and copies of the game off the leaderboards | Firebase App Check, with Google Play or Apple |
| Settings fetched at start, tied to an app instance ID | To adjust things such as how often ads may appear, without an update | Firebase Remote Config |
Purchases are made through Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your payment details; the store only tells the game that the purchase was made.
We do not sell your data. Google processes data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and Privacy and Security in Firebase; how Google uses data from apps that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your choices
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and other places where the law requires it, the game asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown and before related data is used. You can change your choice at any time from Privacy settings on the No Ads screen.
- Tracking on iOS. The game asks permission before using the IDFA. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized with it. You can change this in your device settings.
- Advertising ID on Android. You can reset it or opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
- No Ads. A one-time purchase removes all ads from the game.
- Leaderboard and invite data. To have your leaderboard name, scores and invite records deleted, email us your leaderboard name at the address below. We delete them within 30 days. See Support for the steps.
How long data is kept
Weekly leaderboard entries are kept while that week's board can be viewed and all-time entries until you ask us to delete them. Invite records are kept so that every friend counts once, until you ask us to delete them. Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and crash reports for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted by Firebase.
Children
Polarity Spiral is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided data to the game, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data sent by the game travels encrypted (HTTPS). Leaderboard and invite data can only be written by our server functions, which check every score and every invite.
